LONDON (Web Desk) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has cut short his London visit and left for Pakistan a day after more than two hundred people were killed and scores got injured in a massive earthquake in the country.
Talking to media before his departure, the Prime Minister thanked his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi for offering help, however, he said that Pakistan will deal with the situation through its own resources.
Nawaz Sharif said that he will personally monitor the relief activities. He has also directed the authorities to send two thousand tents to the quake affected areas.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister s House, an MI-17 helicopter has been sent to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for relief efforts.
The statement said that a nine-bed mobile hospital with a team of surgeons has been dispatched to Dir immediately.
