ISLAMABAD - Sardar Ayaz
Sadiq has been once again chosen Speaker of the National Assembly on Monday.
PML-N’s
Ayaz Sadiq and Shafqat Mahmood of PTI were the two candidates for the seat of
Speaker National Assembly. The assembly had initially received three nominations,
but MNA Ghazi Ghulab Jamal withdrew his standing.
All the
main political parties, including PPP, MQM, JUI-F, Jamaat-e-Islami, as well as
independent members from FATA had announced support for the PML-N candidate.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq secured 268
votes while Shafqat Mehmood received 31 votes only.
After
announcement of the result, Acting Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbassi administered
oath to the newly elected Speaker.
