KARACHI: Governor Sindh
Dr.Ishratul Ebad Khan has focused for forming a board encompassing medical
experts and humanitarians to safeguard provision of better healthcare
facilities to patients at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH).
This he focused during
his visit of the hospital. Principal Secretary to Governor Muhammad Hussain
Syed, Karachi Commissioner Syed Asif Hyder Shah and KMC Commissioner Sami Uddin
Siddiqui also accompanied the governor.
The Sindh governor said
that with the setting up of a board, the hospital would also be managed
smoothly and properly. Every healthcare institution should always priorities wellbeing
of patients on every other thing and it should be the same at ASH, he directed.
Taking notice of absence
of facilities in emergency and laboratory and non-provision of medicines to
admitted patients, the Governor directed the authorities to make every effort
in this regard. He directed the municipal commissioner to take immediate steps
to ensure better cleanliness in wards and corridors of the hospital to give it
a nice and pleasant look. The whole hospital should be covered with CCTV
cameras, especially the corridors, he added.
He also ordered to
utilise 100 percent of the revenue collected in shape of user charges in the
hospital most preferably in Radiology Department. He further directed for
taking immediate steps to provide meal to admitted patients, which the patients
are not getting since last 18 months.
Meanwhile talking with
media men, the governor said that the purpose of his visit was to get firsthand
knowledge about the facilities, requirements and problems of ASH and to make a
viable strategy to resolve the same with short and long-term measures. All
departments concerned and institutions would be approached to make this health
facility more effective, he added.
