LAHORE – Nawaz Sharif’s statements on National Accountability
Bureau (NAB) was challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday.
In a petition against the
statement of the prime minister, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Gohar Nawaz
Sindhu has called it intrusion in the working of the accountability bureau.
“Prime Minister has issued this statement to apply pressure over the NAB,” he
said.
The supplicant further
said that the politicians want to obstruct NAB in its action against corrupt
people. The supplicant begged to the court to issue an order to stop the prime
minister stopping him from intrusion in the working of the accountability
agency.
Prime Minister Nawaz
Sharif had disparaged the corruption regulator on Tuesday and endangered to
clip its powers over “harassment of government officers”. He had said that
bureaucrats were afraid of taking decisions because they were fearful of NAB
harassment.
