PSL: Quetta Gladiators kicks off Islamabad United


DUBAI: Pakistan Super League (PSL) got off the ground to a shimmering start with a magnificent ceremony as Quetta Gladiators pulled off an upset by thrashing Islamabad United by 8 wickets with 4 overs to spare in the opening match.
The Gladiators’ captain Sarfraz Ahmed won the toss and elected to put the Islamabad United in. Pace man Anwar Ali started the innings with a maiden over and gave no chance to in-form Australian Shane Watson to settle and pave the way for a win.
Sharjeel Khan was the first one to fall to the Gladiators at the hand of Zulfiqar Babar. Next came Muhammad Nawaz who bowled Shane Watson leaving the batting lineup of the rivals struggling.



Skipper Misbah hit 41 runs off 28 balls with a sixer and four 4s. Andre Russel added 35 runs off 20 balls to the total.
In reply, Gladiators scored 132 runs at the loss of two wickets with opener Luke Wright scoring 86 runs off 53 balls with the help of four sixers and 11 4s.
