
ASADABAD -
At least 11 individuals died, including an Afghan militia commander. And over
40 others injured on Saturday in a suicide explosion in Asadabad, Afghanistan.
According to the Khamaa
Press website, the suicide bomber was on a motorbike and exploded his
explosives near the provincial Governor House and police station. Provincial
Governor Wahidullah Kalimzai said the bomber was riding a motorbike to the
entrance of a government compound in the town of Asadabad and exploded his
suicide vest. At least another 40 people were also injured.
“Most sufferers were
civilians and children who were either passing by or playing in the park,” he
said. Rescue and security workers reached the blast site. Security personnel sealed
off the area as an investigation into the incident went under way.
