At
least five people have been killed and three injured in a shooting at
a backyard party near Pittsburgh. The suspects are still at large, according to
local media.
Four
women and one man were shot and killed in the residential area in
Wilkinsburg, about 8 miles east of the city.
In an interview, county police said they were called to a
shooting at what appeared to be backyard party or cookout just before 11pm.
Eight people had been shot, according to police, with four killed at the scene.
The four others were shifted to hospital, where one woman died. Two men are in serious
condition and one woman is stable in hospital. Lieutenant Andrew Schurman of
Allegheny County homicide unit said the gunmen rushed into the party and opened
fire in a trap-style attack.
Police said that ballistic mark suggested that two gunmen were involved, using two different weapons, opening fire from a backstreet behind the address. When partyers attempted to escape into the house, one gunman fired at the porch, where four were killed, the briefing said.
Several
correspondents in the area tweeted photographs of ambulances and police cars.
Dozens of shell casings scattered the pavement of an alleyway at the scene,
media reports said.
