LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islami-Fazl
(JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazal ur Rehman has specified that although fierceness
against women is not permissible in Islam there are several points in the
recently passed domestic violence law that oppose teachings of the Quran and
Sunnah.
Speaking to a conference
at Mansoora which invited party leaders from all religious parties to discuss a
legal framework to alter the Protection of Women against violence bill, Fazl
said, “The government is making public only sugar, and hiding the poison in the
law.”
On Monday, Prime
Minister Nawaz Sharif summoned Fazl to discuss his doubts on the law at his
residence in Raiwand.
Speaking to the
media after the meeting the JUI-F chief said, “The Prime Minister heard our doubts
against the law. He promised to alter the bill so that it does not oppose with
the Quran and Sunnah.”
He said that the
prime minister had vowed to form a committee which would look into the doubts
of the religious parties, including the JUI-F.
