British-Pakistani killed for insulting Islam

The man blamed of killing British-Pakistani shopkeeper in Glasgow Asad Shah, has delivered a statement saying he killed him because he believed Shah had insulted Islam.

Asad Shah was found outside his store last month with serious wounds and was marked dead at the hospital. Police labeled the killing as “religiously intolerant”.

Tanveer Ahmed (the suspect) from Bradford, is accused of killing Shah outside his shop in Glasgow almost a fortnight ago. In the statement he deprived of the incident had anything to do with Christianity. Tanveer claimed that Asad Shah had insulted the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

“Asad Shah insulted the messenger of Islam the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Shah claimed to be a Prophet,” the statement said. “If I had not done this, others would and there would have been more killing and violence in the world,” Tanveer said.

“I wish to make it clear that the incident was nothing at all to do with Christianity or any other religious beliefs even I am a follower of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). I also love and respect Jesus Christ,” he added.

The legal process against Tanveer Ahmed, who is a Muslim and is being held in custody, will continue. The date for his next court hearing has not yet been set.
