ISLAMABAD: Chief of
Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has relaxed senior Chinese leaders that
the military will guarantee a secure environment for well-timed completion of
the billion dollars network of roads and railways connecting the Gwadar deep
seaport with Xinjiang.
Raheel
Sharif assured this during a meeting with Zhang Chunxian, Member of the
Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China
(CPC), who met him at the GHQ on Tuesday.
He
reassured Pakistan’s guarantee to ensure a secure environment for well-timed
completion and successive management of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor
(CPEC) in the best interest of a flourishing region.
Matters
of mutual interest, regional steadiness and measures to enhance bilateral defense
and security association were also discussed in the meeting.
