LAHORE:
Film Maalik that highlights the terrible political system in Pakistan and adores
the role of armed forces was yesterday banned across the country through a
notification allotted by Federal Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and
National Heritage.
The
notification stated “The federal government is pleased to declare Urdu feature
film ‘Maalik’ in respect of which a Censor Certificate No. 54/M-1/2016 has earlier been granted as uncertified film in the whole of
Pakistan with immediate effect.
Maalik
highlights the current situation in the country in which kidnapping for ransom,
terrorist activities and corruption in the ruling circles. It was released on
April 8.
The movie attracted huge crowd and received positive reviews from the movie lovers.
The
notification copy was also sent to chief secretaries of all the provinces
including Gilgit Baltistan and to the Chief Secretary of Azad Government of
Jammu and Kashmir.
The
copy is also sent to the Chairman Central Board of Film Censors.
Prior
to this notification issued by the federal government, Sindh government issued
notification to ban the movie screening in provincial cinema houses but after
much abuzz on the local and social media the ban was taken aback hours later by
the Sindh Board of Film Censors (SBFC).
Maalik
is directed by Ashir Azeem and Sami Rehman while produced by Ashir Azeem and
his wife Bushra Ashir Azeem.
The film featured Ashir Azeem, Farhan Ally Agha, Sajid Hassan, Ehteshamuddin, Hassan Niazi, Tipu, Rashid Farooqi Tatmain ul Qalb.
The cinematography of the film has been done by Imran Ali and the film is edited by Salman.

Azeem Gill tweeted “Maalik film banned again but this time by the federal
government.
Ashir Azeem got fame from the TV drama serial Dhuhan in 1994, which was also about army and police.
The
film’s character of chief minister of a province called ‘Sain’ led to a
controversy which later turned to ‘political alliance’ to ban the movie first
in Sindh and later across the country.
The
storyline of the Maalik is about the common Pakistani who had always been
sidelined and marginalized despite being honest with the country.
Maalik’s tagline is “I am the citizen of Pakistan and I am the owner of this country”.
Pakistan
Tehreek-i-Insaf spokesman Naeemul Haq said PML-N led government was hiding the
voice against corruption and said PTI wants immediate lift of ban on the movie
which nourishes people minds against the corruption.
