KARACHI - Mustafa Kamal chief of Pakistan Sar Zameen Party
(PSP) yesterday addressed to a public rally where he said, security operations
in Karachi and elsewhere in Pakistan alone are not the solution to people’s
problems.
“We have
broken the world record as the party has prospered in holding a huge gathering
within one month of its establishment,” he claimed while addressing a large
gathering at Bagh-e-Jinnah.
“Furthermore, for the first time in history of
country, people contributed in our public gathering carrying national flags in
their hands, instead of any party flag,” he added. Questioning the democratic
system in the country, he believed that the power should be transferred to the
local level as it is the main step of the democracy.
As per
the constitution MPA, MNAs and senators are elected to enact in the assemblies
but it is unfortunate that these elected representatives were tasking the
development works to their own private companies which was one of the major
reasons for massive corruption, Kamal told.
Talking
about the formation of new provinces, he said that in the existence of the terrible
system it would not be productive to go for more provinces. “We have to focus
on removal this system and empowering the local governance so as to put the
country on the path of progress.”Kamal repeating his slogan, “I own Karachi” (which
he introduced while he was mayor of Karachi), asked the people to start owning
their neighborhoods and areas as it was the only way to get the things done in
a good manner.
“I have
decided to visit other parts of the country with the memorandum of unity and
brotherhood and I will ask the same from the other residents of the country as
the owing (the country) is the only way out.
”Without
naming MQM, PSP chief said that the wrong policies of the so-called
stakeholders of the city produced target killers, criminals, mobile phone
snatchers and mafias. He even labelled MQM leaders as RAW agents.
The party
will initially focus on the basic issues of public. We will alter the city
(Karachi) and it would no longer be called the city of RAW agents. We will
bring back the light of the city,” concluded Kamal while raising Pakistan’s flag.
Earlier, the party on the day of its first
public gathering dressed up Bagh-e-Jinnah with national flags and banners of
the party while anthems were being played at the stalls set up inside the park.
A
massive stage with a huge screen in the background was set while about 15,000
chairs were placed in the stadium for the attendees. The party also distributed
CDs featuring six new anthems for the party gathering, with one song reserved
especially for Kamal. In the end of the public gathering participants were
greatly electrified by remarkable fireworks.
