LAHORE -
Sirajul Haq, leader Jamaat-e-Islami has demanded of the politicians including
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif consuming offshore accounts and possessions
confirmed by the Panama leaks to leave their party and public offices.
“Mr Nawaz Sharif should give resignation after his family’s participation in offshore companies was proved in Panama leaks,” Sirjul Haq said while speaking the religious parties at Mansoora yesterday.
He said that the foreign assets of the rulers were much away from the prospects of the people. “If these assets had been made through lawful means, there was no reason for hiding them in off-shore accounts,” he added.
The JI chief said that the voice of Panama leaks would not die naturally. The parties who had been in power in the past had tried to hide one another corruption but this could not continue now, he added.
Sirajul Haq commented that in Karachi, a ‘Dry Cleaning Plant’ had been installed and those coming out of it were issuing certificates of innocence to the blackmailers, land mafia and target killers.
He added that the rulers had ditched morality which was the foundation of all laws, constitution and democracy.
“In the countries which have democracy, no one can think of violating their moral standards,” Siraj said, adding that those who had been preying public money had no moral right to speak of development and prosperity.
“It is time to learn a lesson from the Panama leaks and the nation should grow new laws, democratic rules which will exile all those revealing the masses,” he advised.
The JI chief maintained that whenever someone big was dragged up for corruption in recent past, there was uproar of threats to democracy. He urged the political workers to purge their parties from corrupt elements.
