During the recent
Microsoft Build 2016 event it was discovered that the Windows 10 is being dynamically
used on 270 million devices. It was also declared that it will be releasing
Windows 10 Anniversary Update by summers this year for PCs, mobile devices,
Xbox One, HoloLens and IOT.
Below are some
of the new features and developments that are likely to arrive with Windows 10
Anniversary Update:
Windows Hello
Enhancements to Windows Hello will allow users to make use of
biometric recognition security on Windows apps and Microsoft Edge browser. By
this, Edge will become the first browser to carry innate support for biometric
security on supported websites, the official Windows Blog stated.
Windows Ink
Windows Ink
will allow users to flawlessly use stylus on devices for making notes, drawing
and more. It will be integrated with apps like Maps, Edge and Office for suitably
sharing analog thoughts.
Cortana
Cortana will
become smarter in the upcoming Windows 10 Redstone 1 update. It will be able to
suggest good apps from Windows Store, suggest activities like lunch and
transportation throughout the day, and sending and receiving text messages on
PC.
Start Menu
According to CNET, the start menu
will be tweaked will show All Apps menu will be available on its right side. A harm
burger icon will give entree to Settings and Account.
Chaseable Tiles and Improved Notifications
The Live Tiles
and Action Center will receive new updates in summer this year. Chaseable Tiles
will allow directly access the content that can be seen on the Live Tile. The
notification area will be able to display images present on the alerts.
If there are unread notifications from the same app, it will
show a number for it on the Taskbar. Also, Windows 10 will allow users to view
and dismiss all the alerts that arrive on their smartphones running on Windows
10 Mobile or Android, MS Power User reported.
Dark Theme
The Windows 10
Anniversary Update will also introduce the Dark Theme. Currently, the feature
is present on Windows 10 but it has been kept disabled. The upcoming update
will allow users easily enabled it through the Settings.
Windows Store
Developers will
be able to add a trailer video of their app to the Windows Store to showcase
its features. The Store Subscriptions will allow developers to receive monthly
payments for their inside their app.
